"Let ocean rage…" October 21 & 22 at 8:00pm
Spinal Chord! Saturday, November 5th at 7:00pm This evening featured great music, fine wine, magnificently catered hors d’oeuvres and good company! The award winning atrium of the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre features a wrap-around ramp that winds above a central open space below, offering some truly unique performance possibilities! ICORD (International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries: www.icord.org) is a research program of Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and the University of British Columbia. This event is an interdisciplinary fundraiser with proceeds going to both organizations. Money raised by ICORD will fund spinal chord injury research programs. A Christmas Reprise: Our annual blockbuster Christmas Concert! Saturday, December 17th at 2:00pm
Romancero! Thursday, February 9th at 8:00pm Canadian marimbist Anne-Julie Caron has made her mark on the world musical scene with her sensitivity, depth, and wide spectrum of tonal colors. This concert presents the Romancero Gitano of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and works of major Latin American composers. This will be the second collaboration between VCS and Anne-Julie Caron. American Choral Directors Conference Cantata Singers have been invited to perform in the Gala Concert of the biannual conference of the Northwest Division of the ACDA in Seattle. More information at www.nwacda.org The Atrium Concert Sunday, April 22nd at 2:00pm Monday, April 23rd at 8:00pm For this concert, we’re very excited to perform, once again, with Canada’s foremost trombone ensemble, I Tromboni. I Tromboni was formed in 1999 when five of Canada's finest young trombone virtuosi dedicated themselves to the promotion and performance of live music for the trombone quintet. All of the music in this concert, (which includes major works of the perennially popular Renaissance composer, Giovanni Gabrieli 1554-1612) was composed to be performed antiphonally, that is, from all sides, back and forth across the listener. The two award winning atria (The Blusson Centre & The Atrium Building) are uniquely suited for this explosive surround-sound experience! |
