A Vancouver Cantata Singers Fundraiser
Saturday, November 1st at 7:00pm
Hycroft Manor, 1489 McRae Avenue, Vancouver
On Saturday evening, November 1, we donned our cocktail attire and met at Hycroft Manor in Shaughnessy for a relaxed and elegant evening in support of the Vancouver Cantata Singers. We were treated to live music performed by members of the choir, catered hors d’oeuvres, and exquisite wine tasting courtesy of the Seacove Group. This year’s theme was Cascadia, and the premium wines that were poured for this event came to us from the Pacific Northwest wineries of Camaraderie
Cellars (Washington), Torii Mor (Oregon)
and Poplar Grove (Naramata Bench, BC). The evening will also featured a silent auction.
Bass, J. Evan Kreider, took these and more photos of the event. Visit them them on his blob at http://kreiderskorner.blogspot.com/
Novemberfest Wine Sponsors
"Novemberfest, The Vancouver Cantata Singers' November 1 fundraiser at Hycroft Manor, is an occasion to taste some Camaraderie of both the small-and big-C varieties."
Best Cellars, Over the Line, by Jurgen Gothe Vancouver Lifestyles Magazine October 2008
Seacove Group The Seacove Group Inc. is a premium wine and spirit import, sales and marketing company with the head office in Vancouver, BC. The Seacove Group is a proud sponsor of Novemberfest, representing Camaraderie Cellars, Torii Mor, and Poplar Grove.
Camaraderie Cellars (Washington State)
Don Corson has been making wine since 1981 when he started with 100 pounds of Eastern Washington grapes and made his first Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1992 Don and his wife Vicki formed Camaraderie Cellars with a combination of hope, a small new building, great vineyard connections and a family philosophy that the best things in life are meant to be shared. Camaraderie Cellars is located in picturesque Port Angeles, but the grapes are from Eastern Washington and the wines are distinctive for
their pedigree. Camaraderie is fortunate to have long-term relationships with Fred Artz at Artz Vineyards on Red Mountain, and Paul Champoux at Mercer Ranch. These vineyards are regularly mentioned, as among Washington's best, a tribute to Fred and Paul's passion for excellence, a passion Camaraderie Cellars happens to share.
Novemberfest featured Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 and Elegance 2005 (a blend of all 5 red Bordeaux varieties sourced from a single vineyard) from Camaraderie Cellars.

Torii Mor (Oregon)
Torii Mor Winery was founded in 1993 by Donald Olson, MD, who remains the owner to this day with his wife, Margie. The winery was initially a small project that was intended to showcase the fruit from his vineyard. Since its modest beginnings in 1993 with just over 1,000 cases, Torii Mor has blossomed into a small, super-premium winery that focuses on small lots of handcrafted, vineyard-designated Pinot Noir. And now about the name: TORII MOR was chosen by the founder as he felt it conjured
a feeling of unique elegance. Borrowing from the Japanese, the word “torii” refers to the ornate gates often seen at the entrances to Japanese gardens. “Mor” is a word in ancient Scandinavian that means “earth.” By integrating these two distinct languages, the romantic image of a gate to the earth space or passageway to beautiful things is formed. We believe that Pinot Noir is that beautiful gateway to the earth.
Novemberfest featured Pinot Noir 2006 from Torii Mor.

Poplar Grove (Naramata Bench, BC)
Poplar Grove is located in the heart of the Naramata Bench in the Okanagan Valley. 1995 was the inaugural vintage for winemaker/proprietor Ian Sutherland. People quickly recognized the quality, making Poplar Grove one of the most sought after wines in British Columbia. With new top vineyard sites, construction beginning on a state of the art winery and progressive viticultural work, winemaker/proprietor Ian Sutherland and Poplar Grove continue to pursue quality
with a “head in the stars, feet on the ground…or in the vineyard” approach.
Novemberfest featured Pinot Gris 2007, Monster Rose 2007, and Syrah 2005 from Poplar Grove.
